February Newsletter

Welcome February! There are so many fun things going on in the month of February, it is sure to be filled with excitement. Please read through the newsletter classroom by classroom for upcoming activities, reminders and what the children will be learning for the month. We also have a calendar with birthday’s, school closings and special events. Everything can be found on our website too.

This month our curriculum themes are Valentine’s Day, family, the president’s, Groundhog’s Day, diversity and the 5 senses. Each teacher breaks down these themes differently and applies them, age appropriately, to the curriculum for that classroom. Along with going over all numbers, colors and shapes each day they will focus on specific letters, numbers, colors and shapes for each month.

On February 14th at 3:15 pm, we will be having a Valentine’s Day Party here at Little Scholar’s. For the Kindergartener class, Class lists have gone out for each classroom if you wish to make valentine’s at home to share at school. The children will be decorating bags at school to collect the valentine’s in. Some classrooms may have special instructions for the party so please read through the newsletter. We will hang a list if anyone wishes to bring a special snack for the party. As always, feel free to join us for the party if you wish.

There will be a meeting at Darcey for all Preschool 2 parents on February 15 from 7:00-8:30 pm. A flyer regarding this meeting has been put into your pockets regarding this meeting. Please let me know if you plan to attend. This is a great meeting that will answer many of your questions about Kindergarten and help ease your fears. I highly recommend this meeting and have found it very informative in the past.

We have several birthdays this month. Charlie will turn 1 on the 3rd. Ethan W. turns 2 on the 8th. Courtney will be celebrating her 3rd birthday on the 17th. Mario will be turning 3 on the 18th. Abigail is turning 4 on the 24th. Miss Corissa will be celebrating her birthday on the 13th. Happy Birthday to all!

Happy Hearts Month!

All the toddler rooms are doing very well. The toddler teachers are trying to work on Potty Training. We have been having a lot of success. In September many of our toddlers will be moving to Preschool so we would like to get a jump start on training. It would help our Teachers greatly to not use snap under clothing or belts for reason we try to put the children on the potty more frequently and they like do be independent and try by themselves to sit on the potty.

They have been exploring lots of different music. If any parent would like to share some children music cd’s we would love to play it in our class rooms.

For the holiday we will be making our Valentine’s Day bags for their mailboxes and on the 14th of February the children will be handing their cards. The toddler teachers will help each child participate in handing out their own valentines. We will have sign up sheets on the toddler doors if you would like to contribute any food items.

For the month we will be working on practicing hearts, the number 6, and the color pink. Discussing in circle time hearts and love, dental health, and Groundhog Day.

Everyone is doing very well with labeling. Please label all drinking sippy cups and clothing. Many children have the same coats.

Just a few reminders: please make sure to check your child’s extra clothes bin. I ask that there be at least 2 changes of clothes in there, which includes pants, shirts, underwear and socks. I sent out a list in your parent pockets of what your child needs. Please also be sure to bring hats and gloves each day, even though it’s colder out we go outside everyday even if it’s only for 15 mins. Even though we have not had much snow lately, if it does snow please bring in your child a pair of snow boots and snow suit/pants so that we can all go outside and play in the snow!

Hope you have a great month!

A Wise Old Owl
A wise old owl lived in an oak
The more he saw the less he spoke
The less he spoke the more he heard.
Why can't we all be like
that wise old bird?
